Dealing with Identity Theft, Breaches and Hacks

ARTRS has sent letters to members stating that an agency email account was accessed by an unauthorized individual. ARTRS hired an independent computer forensic investigating service to determine the extent of the unauthorized activity. The investigators determined that an unauthorized user gained access to one email account for a limited period of time. As of May 11, 2020, there was no evidence that any information contained in the email account was actually viewed or misused.

Due to this, and the fact that Teacher Retirement is always acting in the best interest of its members, ARTRS has arranged for a year of free identity theft protection through ID Experts.

We at Insurance Advantage and LMA Financial Services believe that everyone should have identity theft protection. We live in a world that is highly digital and where breaches and hacks are not uncommon. It is always a good thing to allow yourself that extra layer of protection.

If you are an ARTRS member, you should consider this free year of identity theft protection. After that year, shop and compare, but don?t go without the protection! This monthly or annual expense should be part of your budget if you have a computer, laptop, iPad, tablet or cell phone.

One other thing…it?s always good to look at your online bank account and/or credit card website to check for fraudulent activity! This is something you should do at least once a month if not more often.
